GARLIC TWIST STICKS

“LET’S GET TWISTED!” — Dough

These twists are crunchy on the outside soft on the inside are basically the result of what would happen if garlic knots met breadsticks and hit it off (you get me). They are great for a homemade Italian night it—oooh, or pizza night! If you’re making that happen, I have some more recommendations for you!

If I were making a homemade Italian night in, I’d for sure want to make some of these:

Green Cheesy Bread

Turkey Bolognese

Roasted Acorn Squash Caprese

Apple Turkey Meatballs

Instructions

TO MAKE YOUR BUTTER GARLIC SAUCE
  1. In your small mixing bowl, combine your melted butter, garlic powder, parsley, parmesan, and salt. Use your fork to mix it all together. It will be more of a paste than a liquid. Don’t worry, you’re right on track.
TO MAKE YOUR DOUGH TWISTS
  1. Preheat your oven to 400º.
  2. Grease baking sheets with olive oil. Set aside for now.
  3. Lightly flour a clean surface (like your counter).
  4. Place dough on it. Use your rolling pin to roll it out until it’s evenly flat and a 1/4 inch thick.
  5. Use your paring knife to cut the edges off of your dough so that you have a large rectangle.
  6. Drag your knife to cut your rectangle in half lengthwise.
  7. Drag your knife to cut your dough widthwise into 1/2 inch wide strips. Do this to all of your dough.
  8. You are going to work in pairs now. Cross the tops of two pieces of dough and tuck just a small bit over to secure them together. Cross the bottom piece of dough over the top one. Repeat until you’ve got a twist. Now, touch the two bottoms together and tuck a small piece underneath to hold it together. Transfer your twist to your baking sheet. REPEAT THIS TO ALL OF YOUR DOUGH making sure to place them at least 1/2 inch apart from each other.
TO COAT AND BAKE YOUR TWISTS
  1. Use your pastry brush to paint your garlic butter sauce evenly onto the visible parts of your dough.
  2. Bake until golden—about 8-10 minutes.
