CANE SUGAR AND SOY GLAZED GRILLED SALMON

GRILLED SALMON. If you have a grill, you must must make this!

I love this salmon dish so much! I’ve made it a few times now and am making this promise that I will make a version that can be made solely in the oven too because I’m so going to need to eat it in my city apartment. It’s awesome! The salty sweetness in the glaze makes the salmon special. It’s really so easy to make and takes very little time (which has put it on my weeknight regulars list)—LOVE!

Instructions

TO PREP YOUR SALMON
  1. Preheat your grill over medium heat.
  2. Place your salmon fillet in your large mixing bowl or on your baking sheet.
  3. Drizzle your olive oil over your salmon and use your hands to evenly coat it making sure that every inch of your salmon is oiled.
  4. Evenly season your salmon with salt and pepper.
TO MAKE YOUR CANE SUGAR AND SOY GLAZE
  1. In your medium mixing bowl, whisk together your soy sauce, cane sugar, and cinnamon. It should feel thick. Please note, your sugar won’t fully dissolve into the soy sauce. You’re on the right track!
TO GRILL AND GLAZE YOUR SALMON
  1. Place your salmon on the grill with what would be the skin side up.
  2. Let cook for 3 minutes. Use your spatula to flip it. If you meet resistance, give it another 30 seconds and try again.
  3. Use your silicone brush to lightly coat every inch of the visible part of your salmon. Definitely do scoop some of that cane sugar that has sunk to the bottom of your glaze onto the fish making sure to brush it flat.
  4. Close the grill for 1 minute.
  5. Open your grill and coat your fish again.
  6. Repeat this glazing process a total of 4 times in 4 minutes (so 2 more times).
  7. Use your paring knife to open up a small part of your salmon to see if the inside has any translucency. If there ISN’T any, your salmon is ready! It’s a pretty quick cook so if it’s not ready and you give it more time, check it about every 30 seconds.
  8. Use your spatula to transfer your salmon to your plate. Let it sit for about 3 minutes. Then serve!
