With several locations around the city, I’ve been to Mighty Quinn’s Barbecue a couple times now. They recently opened up a location of the Upper East Side! Walking in through the floor to super high ceilinged windowed doors, that they keep open on nicer days, and into the restaurant, it strikes me as funny that the idea is for people to form a cafeteria-esque food line to pick up their food. You don’t understand, I’m talking about the Upper East Side location, you know, the part of the city where stereotypically people are a little more buttoned up and sit down for stodgier dinners in restaurants that have existed longer than I have.

It’s a huge hit! The neighborhood was hungry for a place like this. With a super meat centric menu—brisket, burnt ends, pulled pork, smoked sausage, spare ribs, brontosaurus rib (what? those aren’t extinct?), spicy wings, half chicken and crispy spicy chicken sandwich—a line of salad-be-damned folk pours out of their doors, nay windows, every night! Get your meat on a sandwich or straight up—or as they more excitingly call it, “naked”.

So, if you’ve lived in the neighborhood forever, like myself, and have been sick of going to high end steakhouses every time you want to satiate your Fred Flintstone-like hunger for meat, this is the place to go after the bird’s tail is pulled causing it to squawk and a dinosaur punches out punch card (if you have no idea what I’m talking about, you so need to watch The Flintstones opening again!).
