The puff pastry outside is both delicious and functional because it gives you somewhere to hold when you’re blindly grabbing in front of you so you don’t miss a second of the game. The parmesan cheese elevates these hot dogs from run of the mill to exciting. The best part, is that they are super easy to make. I love easy Super Bowl food because it means I can make a ton of it and have a drool worthy Super Bowl spread. You with me?

TO MAKE YOUR HOT DOGS
  1. Preheat your oven to 475º.
  2. On a clean surface, use your rolling pin to roll your puff pastry dough just slightly down to roughly 1/8 inch thickness.
  3. Widthwise, cut your dough into 1/4 wide strips.
  4. Working from the top to the bottom, start on the back of your hot dog, wrap each one in a spiral of dough. I recommend making the first and last part of the dough spiral more of a full ring around the hot dog so that it seals the puff pastry dough together and holds it down. Also, we start on the back so that the weight of the hot dog holds down the pastry dough. This way when it puffs up, It won't grow and lift off of your hot dog.
  5. Use your pastry brush to paint a light coating of egg wash over all of your visible puff pastry dough.
  6. Sprinkle a little bit of finishing salt on all of your puff pastry dough.
  7. Use your microplane to grate your parmesan over your puff pastry dough.
  8. Place your hot dogs on your baking sheet at least an inch apart from each other.
  9. Bake until your puff pastry is puffed up and golden brown—15-17 minutes.
  10. Transfer to a plate and serve.
