PUFF PASTRY WRAPPED HOT DOGS are the perfect playful addition to your Halloween spread.

I mean, I feel like these can be eaten all year … who’s with me? I can see them on a platter during the Super Bowl, on a Thanksgiving cheeseboard, on a plate for a family movie night—they are the perfect elegantly playful bite that’s quick and easy to make over and over again. Let your inner kid out … in a mature way—there are herbs de Provence, after all.

TO MAKE YOUR HOT DOGS
  1. Preheat your oven to 400º.
  2. On a clean surface, use your rolling pin to roll your puff pastry dough just slightly down to roughly 1/8 inch thickness.
  3. Widthwise, cut your dough into strips of varying sizes (none more than 1/4 inch wide).
  4. Working from the top to the bottom, start on the back of your hot dog, and wrap each one in a spiral of dough. Use a thinner piece of dough to wrap your hotdog a second time in the opposite direction so that you get a crisscross pattern to your wrap. FYI. We start wrapping on the back so that the weight of the hot dog holds down the pastry dough. This way when it puffs up, It won't grow and lift off of your hot dog.
  5. Use your pastry brush to paint a light coating of egg wash over all of your visible puff pastry dough.
  6. Sprinkle a little pinch of herbs de Provence and an even smaller pinch of finishing salt evenly over your puff pastry dough.
  7. Place your hot dogs on your baking sheet at least an inch apart from each other.
  8. Bake until your puff pastry is puffed up and golden brown—20 minutes.
  9. To add a cuteness factor, you can add candy eyes and take these from an homage to a mummy to a more kid-friendly playful mummy.
  10. Transfer to a plate and serve hot.
