KENOZA HALL CATSKILLS WEEKEND GETAWAY
As a New Yorker, living that hustle and bustle “every week feels the same” kind of life, heading out of town can feel like more work. Tag on being pregnant, not owning a car, and having a toddler and it immediately doesn’t feel worth it. Then, you commit. You rent the car, pack a crap-ton of snacks, and hit the road. Two hours later, you’re there. I promise you, the second you pull up to Kenoza Hall, walk in, are greeted with a super delicious “Welcome Cocktail” made using a local brewery’s honey rye you’ll know it was all a hundred percent worth it.
Consider this my little guide to the Kenoza Hall getaway experience!

KENOZA HALL GUEST ROOMS
With a Victorian B&B aesthetic, every corner of this hotel has been decorated to be special. It’s warm and somehow trendy at the same time. I mean, if I were a fashion blogger, I’d be having a field day with all of these thoughtfully curated places to take pictures in.
We stayed in the Roof Top Deck Suite (click here for a list of all of the room types) which had two levels separated by four steps, the lower level was for the bed and the upper was more of a reading nook antique furniture and a wall outfitted with vintage paintings. The suite also had a gorgeous bathroom with both a shower and a soaking tub private AND an outdoor deck with loungers and a table for two—because it’s thoughtful and well crafted with a completely different aesthetic from my really pretty apartment, it immediately became the perfect home away from home.
KENOZA HALL RESTAURANT
As a food blogger, I get really nervous when thinking about having all of my meals in the same restaurant. If I don’t like the food or the ambiance, I’m stuck with it. Well, I’m happy to report that I was more than happy to be stuck with the Kenoza Hall restaurant. Between the exciting hand-crafted cocktail menu—and delicious mocktails that this mama definitely had several of—and the high-end quality meals, I found myself excited to go back to try the menu items I didn’t get to the day before.
The food blogger in me can’t help but give you a shortlist of dishes you absolutely can’t miss during your visit.
Breakfast Menu
Pancakes with maple syrup and macerated strawberries
An absolute MUST! These pancakes are super duper fluffy, beautiful to look at, and have great flavor. Don’t miss them!
Shirred Eggs with mushrooms, leeks, and gruyère cheese
Sheep’s Milk Yogurt with rolled oats and sunflower seed granola
Cold Press Pineapple Punch made with pineapple, kale, and apple
Dinner Menu
Scallop Gratin with Duxelles, Fines Herbes, and Gruyère
You cannot miss this appetizer. It is so flavorful and unique. The texture play is so exciting and the freshness of the scallops is perfect!
Salmon and Sorrel made with a Sorrel Velouté and a Watercress Side
Cocktail Menu
Butterfly Effect
Sullivan Swing - mocktail MUST.
KENOZA HALL CABANA
For couples or groups of two, these intimate winter-styled cabanas are such a relaxing way to enjoy an afternoon. Equipt with two chairs, a mini wood-burning fireplace, board games, and a lunch/cocktail menu that makes it feel like a fun VIP room. It’s a beautiful space for some “you two time”. If you come out and still want that fire-side feel but with the open air, I highly recommend taking a seat in an Adirondack chair by the open fire pit by the hotel’s entrance and having a cocktail.
HEMLOCK SPA AT KENOZA HALL
This is a can’t miss experience. The massages are wonderful. I absolutely loved my prenatal massage. That said, it’s the waiting area that you need to experience! It’s a world of its own. Rocks on the ground will stimulate bare feet should you choose to take off your sandals, a barrel steam room, a little fire to sit around, lots of plants and flowers, rinsing shower stalls in case you want to take a swim in the pool or sit in the hot tub, and, well, I can’t guarantee that birds will always be chirping but they were when I was there and it made me feel like a Disney princess. It was such a great escape! (Yes, an escape during the escape. If you have a toddler with you, you will surely understand how needed this is).
MORGEN LAUF
During our stay, the walking guide wasn’t available, so we took a morning walk on the Kenoza Hall property following marker signs of rabbits on our own. It was so fun and easy! A little bit of a rainy morning, we jumped in puddles, climbed through the wooded area, and followed my two-and-a-half-year-old son as he found the next rabbit sign for us (effectively becoming our guide). This was definitely more of a walk than a hike—it’s exactly the kind of change of pace from the hustle of the city to get your head in the right place for a calming day at the Kenoza Hotel.
