SHOO SHOO

SHOO SHOO, DON’T BOTHER ME, I’M EATING.

As a Jew, I’m embarrassed to say that I haven’t been to Israel yet. And, yes, I have awesome cousins who live there so, yeah, I’m the worst. But I’m telling you, after visiting Shoo Shoo yesterday—I can’t even. If this is what Tel Aviv's bohemian cafe culture is like, it’s probably smart that I haven’t visited because I’m pretty sure I’d never come home.

I absolutely loved pulling up a stool at the bar and sharing a slew of sharable dishes with one of my awesome girl friends. We demolished every single dish. I thought Juan, the mixologist on the other side of our counter, was kidding when he asked if we were finished with our plates. There wasn’t a notable bite left. This was no joke. His advice was simply brilliant. Take the bread from another dish and wipe the bottom of the plate clean. Best advise I was given all day. Usually, I’m too stuffed after eating almost everything on the menu but not yesterday. No, yesterday, I couldn’t wait to wipe up every ounce of their delicious sauces (talk about zero waste). So good! Their focus on grass-fed organic proteins, whole grains, and seasonal vegetables really pulls through in each and every dish.

Their MIDDLE EASTERN DAAL is everything! It makes me want to move downtown so I can get it every day (that is not an exaggeration). Thank you Chef Shimon Maman for an unforgettable meal. Ooh, also, chef, please consider delivering to the Upper East Side [insert prayer hands emoji].
