SEAMORE'S
You know him from The Meatball Shop, perhaps you know him from FYI’s series Food Porn and now you know Michael Chernow as the restaurateur behind Seamore’s. This sun drenched restaurant is one of my no-brainer, knee-jerk recommendations any time I’m cornered for a for one. Having grown up wader clad, thigh deep in a freezing river fly fishing before dawn, I’m a big seafood lover myself—fun fact, there is a photo of me on a cover of some magazine somewhere, that I spent way too much time googling and not finding, as a kid holding my fishing rod in between my teeth and a rainbow trout I had just caught in my hands.
I digress. What I love at Seamore’s is that I’m inundated with a vast variety of seafood options in a clean bright space that’s decorated with playfully thoughtful details. Take the back wall, for instance. It is painted black with white line art illustrations of fish with captions that read what kind of fish each one is. Adjacent to each painted illustration is a nail, if that fish is an available option that night, a red wooden spoon will hang from the nail as a marker indicating that you can order it as a topper to several of the dishes—such a fun way to note the specials!
I had a moment to chat with Michael about the menu and he noted that it was spearheaded by his new Executive Chef Christopher Cryer. Curious, I asked him how he chose chef Christopher Cryer to be his new executive chef. He told me all about how Christopher was invited into the Seamore’s kitchen and asked to cook with any of the kitchen’s available ingredients. Bite after bite Michael was wowed. Bada bing bada boom, Seamore’s had its new star chef. After indulging in the Seamore’s Winter menu, I completely got it—the flavors are outstanding! They have the most incredible fried fish I have ever had. Really, everything remotely fried is beyond words, one bite in and you’ll get to think about doubling your order. Don’t get me wrong, yes, I’m completely raving about the golden not at all greasy menu items, but they are only a fraction of the menu. There are a plethora of healthier dishes. From the fish tacos, to the the clearly-not-an-afterthought salads, to the incredible soups, every single dish on the menu is special giving you ample reasons to go back for every kind of seafood craving, from healthy to indulgent, time and time again.
PS.The swag is super cool. I'm obsessed with my new grey Seamore's sweatshirt—you are so going to want one!
