DON ANGIE
From the geniuses behind chicken parm pizza at “Quality Italian,” comes husband and wife duo Chef Angie Rito and Scott Tacinelli with your new favorite spot in the West Village, Don Angie.
With hand-painted walls and a wrap-around wood bar, Don Angie is the perfect bright and cozy corner spot for simple yet innovative twists on classic red sauce Italian food.
Their Stuffed Garlic Flatbread looks like a scallion pancake and tastes like the best version of garlic bread you’ve never had. Then there’s their Buffalow Milk Caramelle dotted with house-made persimmon jam and purple basil is easily one of the most spectacular pasta dishes in New York. Hats off to Chef Scott Tacinelli who makes all of the pasta dishes in-house. It’s incredible that the Caramelle isn’t their signature dish, you see, their Lasagna for two has stolen the show.
Definitely, make sure to try out their cocktails because Don Angie is the perfect place for cozying up with a house made digestif at the end of a big dinner.
TRY IT: Steeped in family tradition, the idea behind their Bambino Vino comes from a tradition where all the children received a splash of red wine in their ginger ale. As the years progressed and the children aged, the red wine to ginger ale ratio little by little inverted—what was once soda with a splash became wine with a splash.
