Last night I excitedly went to a restaurant week dinner at Ed’s Chowder House on the Mid-to-Upper West Side (63rd and Broadway).
I say “excitedly” because I have eaten at Ed’s Chowder House before for Valentine’s Day lunch my awesome husband, Franklin. SO YUMMY!
I digress…back to last night’s dinner…(ALSO “YUMMY“)…
The Chowder Sampler that you see in the photo above is such a fun idea! As a person who considers themselves more of a picker or grazer, having small portions of all of the delicious options that I want to try as an option on the menu is pure perfection. LOVE IT! Summer corn chowder with crispy shallots…New England style clam chowder…Manhattan style blue crab chowder…
I absolutely love how Ed’s Chowder House puts a spin on the traditional. I love love love crab cakes but when I saw the option for Smoked Cod Cakes on the menu, I had to try it! How fun! I still prefer their crab version, but had lots of fun trying this new take.
When it comes to a main dish, I firstly note the presentation. While taste is overall the most important part of the eating experience, I have to say, if it looks good, it gets me excited to eat! Well, look at this gorgeous presentation. It makes me hungry just looking at it!
Now, I ordered the New Bedford Sea Scallops. I order scallops all over the place, they are by far my favorite seafood dish. Well, these were definitely one of my absolute favorites! It is extremely difficult to take the crown because my top few are extremely different. I suppose I’ll just have to keep trying them all over and over again to make my final decision.
Topping it all off a la mode is pure genius. That’s all I have to say.
If you’re looking for a new seafood experience, try out Ed’s Chowder House! Let me know what you think!
