Ambiance

Welcome to the Upper East Side, Bondi Sushi. I’m so excited to see all of these trendy chic restaurants popping up in the area. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a sucker for nostalgia but when it comes to a slew of mediocre restaurants that somehow continue to exist, I get frustrated—I said it and I feel can say it because I’ve grown up here, it’s my hood. Enter 2020/2021 and the whole area is revamping. I love the combination of the old classics that have survived and the new trendy places that I’m excited to explore. It caters to my parents generation and my own—which is so the UES!

This sleek counter seated omakase driven bar is sexy. With minimalist styling in it’s black walls, low lighting, and light wooden counters, it really lets the focus be on the sushi. I love that.

FYI, the space is divided in two. In door number one on the right is a small takeout area—love their to-go packaging. In the next door is the counter seated restaurant.

Food

When I think of omakase, my brain rushes to individual pieces of nigiri being made in front of me for me to experience one at a time. If that is where your brain goes too, this is a little different. Here, the chef prepares and presents a personal platter of unique pieces of nigiri for your to sample.

It should be noted, their appetizers are wonderful. From the crispy rice (which are a must), to their sushi rolls, to their rice bowls, there truly isn’t a weak link.

What To Wear

While you can surely walk in off of the street in whatever you’re wearing, if you’re planning ahead, I’d go with a trendy jeans and top look—nothing too elevated but an outfit that you’d wear out on a date (and not a first one).

Baby Friendly?

This wouldn’t be my first choice for bringing the kids. The space just isn’t right for it. Think of it as more of a date spot for when you can have a little parent time out.
